Episode 44: Baby Folklore of the Old World
Tuesday Jul 13, 2021
Tuesday Jul 13, 2021
Speaking from VERY FRESH experience, babies are hard. With modern science and medicine, new parents are able to understand why their babies are the way they are. But back in the old world, parents didn't have that luxury. For example - what we might call a gassy or fussy baby today may have been called a changeling, or a fairy that was left in place of human babies that were stolen. We know today that's not true, but it's probably not much solace for the sleep deprived parents. Join Matt and Carolanne this week to learn about some baby folklore of the old world.

Episode 42: America's Decaying Bridges
Monday May 17, 2021
Monday May 17, 2021
Bridges are an essential part of allowing us to get from point A to point B. Without them, we would be unable to freely get around while on our commutes and family trips. We know there have been massive bridge collapses due to natural disasters, but what would you think if you knew that over 45,000 of American bridges have been deemed structurally deficient? Structurally deficient bridges have led to catastrophes like the I-35W bridge collapse in Minnesota in 2007, killing 13 people, and the recent closure of the I-40 bridge near Memphis. These aren’t isolated incidents either -- 4 out of 10 U.S. bridges need to be replaced or repaired. Join Matt and Carolanne this week as they discuss the terrifying nature of America’s crumbling bridges.

The first atomic bomb was used as a weapon on August 6th, 1945. The second came three days later on August 9th.
