Episode 50: Wittenoom, Australia's Chernobyl
Monday Aug 23, 2021
Monday Aug 23, 2021
Asbestos has been a known health issue for decades, especially for the workers who work in the mines worldwide. Even as health issues were coming to light in the 50s and 60s from the medical community, workers were often left in the dark about the health dangers due to information suppression by the companies and government agencies that owned and regulated the mines. This week, Matt and Carolanne dive into the tragedy of Wittenoom, a small mining town considered "Australia's Chernobyl" because of the long-lasting effects asbestos has left for the residents.

Episode 45: Sodder Children Disappearance
Monday Jul 19, 2021
Monday Jul 19, 2021
George and Jennie Sodder lived in Fayetteville, West Virginia, with their 10 children (with one son away in the military). On the night before Christmas in 1945, the family goes to sleep but a fire breaks out around 1AM. Four of the children escape with their parents, but the other five children are nowhere to be found. The fire destroys the house but an investigation finds no traces of the missing children; their "deaths" are ruled due to fire or suffocation. Decades go by and George and Jennie continued to search for their missing children, believing them to have been kidnapped rather than perishing in the fire. Join Matt and Carolanne this week to talk about the Sodder children disappearance.
