The first atomic bomb was used as a weapon on August 6th, 1945. The second came three days later on August 9th. These bombs demonstrated the devastating powers of nuclear weaponry as the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were eviscerated. There have been thousands of nuclear tests performed by countries all over the world and yet since those fateful days during World War II, no nuclear bomb has been used as a weapon. We are a simple button’s press away from ending life on our planet and yet here we are. Are we in control of our nukes or are intergalactic peacekeepers disarming our biggest weapon?
